I am the Executive Director of the National Black Programming Consortium. I am also a documentary filmmaker and a writer. I am very interested in work that engages on both an emotional and a human level.
I have been involved in film in many ways: as a maker, a funder, an advocate and a critic.
I enjoy being able to fund films and move important work in the direction of their intended audiences. Working with committed makers and helping them to connect the dots -- with audiences, with other funders, with broadcasters -- keeps our spirits high and keeps us moving. I will also be producing a 4-part series over the next year about education in the US. Very excited about that!
I think our new project, the Public Media Corps, has real potential to connect with a new generation of media makers that are passionate about social justice, equity and active citizenship. We've just "graduated" our first class and are looking for partnerships to help us continue this inspiring work.
I think I've also done good work by helping to bring a bright little soul into the world. I will be working on that project I guess ... forever!
