What I do

I help organizations make better decisions about the future by building capacity for strategic foresight towards an integrated bottom line (social, environmental, and financial).

Have you been involved with film in your work? If so, how and what was your role?

Yes, I have been a documentary film maker and am currently exploring ways to integrate film in the scenario planning process in order to provide a move visceral experience of possible futures and their implications on decisions in the present.

How would you like to work with film in future?

Short films to give organizations a sense of possible futures (as resulting from a scenario planning process) and inform strategic decisions in a more effective way than merely reading stories.

3 things you've worked on that have done real good in the world

The Future of the Healthcare Safety Net in Detroit Wayne County - multi-stakeholder scenario planning process with over 30 health care delivery organizations in Detroit Wayne County around the future of health care delivery in Wayne County

Designed the Stakeholder Summit with convention centers, hotels, municipalities, the EPA, NGOs that resulted in the current EPA Sustainability Standards for Large Scale Food Venues

Assessed the Lifecycle impact in terms of GHG emissions of each ton of waste in the City of San Francisco and co-authored the proposal for Waste Offset Fee legislation towards the city's Zero Waste goals currently going through the hearing process
