Our mission is to advance the global black community by developing leaders, informing policy and educating the public.
Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Independent Film Series (ALC-IFS) showcases groundbreaking short movies and documentaries that highlight the experiences of Black people in the United States and abroad. Drawing on the thousands of lawmakers, policy professionals, grassroots activists and concerned citizens who attend ALC each year, ALC-IFS provides a unique opportunity for seasoned and emerging filmmakers to shape national discourse and policy through the cinematic arts. Films are selected through a competitive call for submissions, based on each film’s potential to influence policy affecting Black Americans and the availability of directors, producers, actors and other key players to participate in follow-up panels and seminars.
