Founded in 2006, the Pulitzer Center is a non-profit journalism organization dedicated to raising awareness of global systemic crises that are under-reported in the mainstream media. Our mission is to promote in-depth engagement with these issues through sponsorship of quality international journalism across all media platforms and an innovative program of outreach and education. The Center has received numerous awards, including a Webby, a National Press Foundation award and an Emmy.
Our approach treats the projects we support as ongoing awareness campaigns rather than just "products." We work with hundreds of media outlets, from the Washington Post and NewsHour to YouTube and Global Voices Online, and we partner with NGO’s and nonprofits to amplify the impact of our reporting. Our online strategy incorporates social media, extensive use of online video, and interactive features that balance traditional journalism with active audience participation.
