Founded in 1980, The Human Rights Campaign is the country's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization. HRC envisions an America where LGBT people are ensured legal equality and embraced as full members of the American family at home, at work and in every community. The HRC Foundation was established in October 1986 as a non-political, educational organization and is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organizationThrough research, educational efforts and outreach, the HRC Foundation encourages LGBT Americans to live their lives openly and seeks to change the hearts and minds of Americans to the side of equality. The HRC Foundation delivers effective programs to address pressing issues including: adoption and foster care, safe schools, access to quality healthcare, workplace non-discrimination and faith-based support for equality. We provide expertise, create and disseminate tools and resources, and exert influence to effect social justice and human rights for individuals and families.
The Human Rights Campaign and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation have a long history of partnering with documentary film makers whose work brings to life stories of discrimination against LGBT individuals. Our involvement takes a variety of forms from promoting the film among our members and supporters to writing complimentary discussion guides or curricula to accompany the film. We often incorporate the use of such films in our Public Education and Outreach Division in such areas as school bullying, religion and faith, transgender education and workplace fairness.
