FilmAid is a multi-national humanitarian organization that harnesses the power of film to educate and bring hope to refugees and other communities in need around the globe. Founded in 1999 in response to the Balkan crisis, FilmAid is currently working Kenya - in refugee camps on the border of Somalia and Sudan - in Haiti with communities displaced by the earthquake, and with refugees on the Thai/Burma border.
FilmAid presents feature films with universal appeal that provide psychological relief to communities ravaged by war and displacement. We also produce community-made films with story-lines highlighting critical issues such as nutrition, disease, safety, and conflict resolution. And through FilmAid’s Participatory Video Program, young refugees have access to training, equipment and a platform to tell their own stories.
